This book was AMMMMAZZING! So good! It explains everything you could ever want to know. It has questions to ask vendors. It has been ESSENTIAL! I love this book so much! This book makes me want to become a wedding planner just so I have an excuse to keep using this book! Seriously, if you’re getting married, you HAVE to get this book!!

This book was given to me from my then future sister in law. It was the most Helpful gift I have ever received. I had only been to maybe 3 weddings before mine and had no idea what to do or where to start. This book has an answer to every question that came up.
We had 60 guests at our wedding (including the bridal party). It’s true that the book is aimed for larger weddings but it’s not that difficult to just take the information you need and pair it down for a smaller wedding.
I’m actually online right now to buy this book for my friends who just got engaged an hour ago!! Congrats Kenny and Meghan!!

When I got engaged, I almost had a panic attack about having to plan a wedding. I have done event planning before at work but had no idea what all needed to be done for a wedding. . . until I found this book. It is a great reference book for all things related to a wedding. From what questions to ask vendors, what the various types of veils are (birdcage? cathedral?), to how to write a thank you note. It also has instructions for things like how to preserve your gown, save the top layer of your cake, etc.
I highly recommend this book to anyone planning a wedding!

This book is great and up to date guide for a wedding. It answers questions in a 2009 era. I can’t think of a question we had that it didn’t address. As the parents of the groom, we wanted to know as much as possible to help and participate in the planning of our sons’ wedding. Mindy’s book had all of the answers in a clear and practical way. Easy to navigate through, too.

This book is an absolutely incredible resource for a busy bride. I have never planned an event of such magnitude as a wedding, and I am planning mine from out of state. A friend recommended this book, and for the past 6 months, I haven’t been able to put it down. It is well-organized, easy to read, and has book mark stickers included, as well as a notes section, so you can write your thoughts down immediately as you are reading the book.
What I found most helpful is that it has a set of questions to ask your vendor – no matter who they are. For venue managers, make up artists, DJs/bands, caterers, etc – it has ALL that. It also has very handy measurements, like how many sq. feet of dance floor each guest requires, and even provides a list of booze to buy for an average sized wedding (I think about 200 ppl). The questions that Mindy includes are things that I would have never even thought of asking, but because it’s in the book, I was able to cover off on such details as “do you have enough electrical outlets in this ballroom,” and “where are the bathrooms and are they handicap accessible?” She made me think about things in much more detail, and at the same time helped me see the bigger picture. She’s also made scheduling things that much easier, as she spells out how long each event may take (hair, makeup, pictures for small and large wedding parties, etc. ).
For destination brides, she has a section dedicated only to that. She also has a section dedicated to the legal makings of husband and wife, and spells out where to begin changing the last name, etc. Since many of those things are dependent on the state, she gives other resources one can defer to. This book is practical, concise, and fun to read. It has become my bible over the past few months. Highly recommend it!
